V.38 (bilingual) Math Hands On
Steffen Brasch, Thomas Neukirchner
We want to tackle mathematics together in a practical way. It is valuable for pupils to experience the topics in a hands-on way and to be able to get actively involved themselves.
We want to build and craft Platonic and other solids in such a way that we specifically address different points of view through the type of construction.
Bringing scissors, pens and a ruler is helpful, but the desire to get involved is more important.
V.39 Math as a Journey of Exploration
Birte Vestergaard
Creating a classroom environment where students feel safe to fail, safe to ask questions and to share their ideas. How this safety makes it possible to turn the differences of academic levels among students into valuable teaching resources.
On this basis: How can math be taught as a journey of exploration, using discovery sheets, that make the students discover mathematical laws themselves working in small groups? How to create own discovery sheets.
V.42 (bilingual) Education for Sustainable Development (ESD): The Great Socio-Ecological Transformation
Gunter Keller
If we follow our world and current global events today, we are becoming increasingly aware that we are facing major social challenges and changes. This is about the sustainability of our planet and our human society. It is a question of whether we can develop a way of life that uses our resources carefully, sparingly and considerately and at the same time enables a »good life« for as many people as possible.
In this forum, we want to address the question of how we can prepare our students for this socio-ecological transformation and how we can and must further develop our schools and our curriculum.
V.44 (bilingual) Media Use in the Classroom
Robert Neumann, Ulrike Sievers
Analog and digital media can be used effectively in upper school lessons to expand one's own repertoire of methods. In the forum, we want to present some methods that can be implemented in all lessons without much effort.
The course will be held in English. Individual contributions from participants can be translated into English if necessary.
